What happened last week
I spent a lot of my time booking all the flights and stays for JS World and PHP UK. I’m psyched about going to those events. The biggest event I have ever been to was WordCamp Europe, and especially JS World looks like an event from a totally different league. On the other hand, the ticket prices are quite out of this world. Without Kinsta’s support, I would probably never go there.
And, while we are talking about WordCamp Europe - I submitted my talks there. Fingers crossed.
I’m also happy to learn that Kinsta announced that they wouldn’t follow Google, Microsoft, or Facebook, so there aren’t massive layoffs planned here. I won’t lie. When I saw that more than 50k people got fired, I started to stress a bit.
And I received the best I could imagine:

The State of Developer Ecosystem 2022
Jetbrains conducted a survey among developers, and there are some really interesting takeaways. For example, “programming” and “playing games” are the most popular hobbies, they prefer dogs over cats and mostly work from home. It’s really worth checking out and cross-checking with other surveys.

Make beautiful websites with Next.js & MDX
I’m constantly discovering new things when it comes to static site generators. Like Nextra, for example. It takes the power of Next.js, but makes it simpler to use. I played with it for a moment, and it’s super nice if you need to create a simple blog or documentation.

I finally found some time to write about how my 2022 was. I must admit it was really full of adventures and changes. Also, I see it as a nice intro to 2023, which I think will be even more amazing.

Is CSS-in-JS actually bad? — Mayank
Mayank decided to create ecsstatic, which is another approach to CSS-in-JS. Personally, I quite like it because it lets you just write simple and scoped CSS without going weird with the syntax.
