What happened last week

I spent the last preparing everything related to going to JS World in Amsterdam and PHP UK in London. Apart from business-related research, I also prepared a shortlist of talks I have to see in Amsterdam:

The @JSworldconf starts soon, and I really can't wait for it. Especially since there are some amazing talks planned - here are my top 5 that for sure I won't miss: 🧵

I had a blast talking with Cassidy about AI. It’s quite fascinating how much we talked about the ethics of this. If you missed it - you can still rewatch it here.

And while we are talking about the Code and Coffee Show, I’m thrilled to see that I already have more than 50 subs. I know that’s not much, but for me, this is huge.

Interesting links

Astro 2.0 — Fred Schott

Astro 2.0 was released, and it’s really full of goodies. My favorite is hybrid rendering, which lets you decide between SSG and SSR on the page level instead of a website level. But the content collections are great too, and if you use MD/MDX more, you’ll probably love it too.

Flat Camp 2023

If you are a Statamic developer, this event is for you. In my case, sadly, I will miss it, but I hope that it will be a blast. I really love the vibe of it.

My top-10 favorite functions in PHP - Brent Roose

Breant listed some very interesting PHP functions. There are some that I had never even heard about.

Overcoming Imposter Syndrome as a Programmer — Bas van Dinther

Bas did a great job listing the most common causes and how to fight them. Also, I think it’s crucial to remember to seek professional help if needed. There is no shame in this; based on my experience, I can tell that therapy is sometimes needed.

The DevRel influencer trend — Divya Mohan

Divya wrote a very interesting piece about the differences between being a DevRel and Tech Influencer. I don’t have anything to add here - just read it.

Learn how to secure your git repository 🔒 — Dwayne McDaniel

Together with Dwayne McDaniel, we'll analyze many ways git may cause a security breach. Believe us - there are quite a few of them.

Building a Calendar with Carbon — Nathan Morgan

I enjoyed this tutorial about building a calendar class in PHP using Carbon.
