What happened last week

Last week I visited the Code Europe conference in Warsaw. It was a fun experience, and I learned a lot from it. The presentations that surprised me the most were about AI robotics, the C64 debugger, and hacking Teslas. I hope to find time to write a short review soon.

Also, last week we celebrated the 20th anniversary of WordPress. Quite remarkable that WP has been with us for so long.

And it’s also worth mentioning that I got older. 38 years feel weird, and I can’t imagine how I will feel in two years.

Oh, and another thing - I’m going to Athens next week for WordCamp Europe. If you want to meet and go for a coffee, ping me.

One of my birthday gifts - a cake latte art

20 years of WordPress — Maciek Palmowski

WordPress is 20 years old. Can you imagine that WP will be able to drink beer all around the US next year?

I’m really happy being a part of this amazing community. And even if there are moments when I’m mad at some decisions, WP will always have a special in my heart.

Craft CMS: A 10 Year Timeline — Ben Croker

Not only WP is celebrating. CraftCMS is celebrating its 10th anniversary. And I wish their community also the best. Proper competition is the only way to go forward. The current situation when one CMS has such an advantage over the rest isn’t healthy for anyone.

Introduction to Kinsta’s API — Kinsta

The best word to describe this is “finally”. I’m really happy that Kinsta has finally launched its API. It’s still in beta and a bit limited, but it’s a great first step.

Why we're bad at CSS — Mike Aparicio

I totally agree with Mike’s explanation about the biggest problems with CSS. The COOL CSS approach he proposed also looks interesting

Josh wrote a very useful article explaining the differences between the three above.

How To Use Drizzle ORM with PlanetScale — Eddy Vinck

A nice and useful article by Eddy about using Drizzle ORM. I didn’t use Drizzle yet, so maybe this will be a good motivation to dive a bit deeper.
