What happened last week
I’m so happy that we are finally wrapping up the launch of the Static Site Hosting. It was a lot of work, but finally, I could see the light in the tunnel. Soon you can expect an article or two about it.
Last week I discovered that Benjamin is using the Pacamara theme for his blog (I discovered it because he submitted a bug). You can’t even imagine how happy I am learning that there are Pacamara users in the wild.
Also, Rugby World Cup is happening - my favorite All Blacks are in the semi-finals. This edition is full of amazing matches and surprises.
On the flip side - it’s getting colder and colder, but this year I decided that it won’t stop me from cycling. I’m planning to invest in some warm clothing.

You can't get faster than No Build — David Heinemeier Hansson
David ain’t wrong with saying this. He’s also not wrong with “You just might want to shed the weight of complexity and enjoy the lighter stack.” Sometimes we are just overengineering things which leads to having hundreds of dependencies.

PHP is 4x faster than JavaScript! — Nuno Maduro
Nuno decided to do an interesting experiment - he ran the same script using PHP and JS to see which was faster. It turns out that PHP was 4 times faster. Of course, that doesn’t mean you should rewrite everything to PHP. It’s also worth going through the comments under the video, as there are some interesting suggestions.
AI Emojis - Alexandru Ţurcanu
Finally, a useful way to use AI - to create emojis. It helped me create a coffee emoji collection that I’m using on Slack.
