What Happened Last Week - Issue #6
This week: being a programmer, CLI, PocketBase, White Board web lessons, Token CSS and much more...
What happened last week
It was a slower week. Right now I'm resting a bit before starting my new job next month. I also decided to play Cyberpunk 2077 once again. It's as amazing as it was.
Interesting links
The Forty-Year Programmer — codefol.io
Noah Gibbs will be a developer for 40 years soon and shares a lot of interesting thoughts about it. I mean, I'm a developer for 15+ years but I always wondered if there will be a place for me in IT in 10 years or more. Luckily, I think I there will.
Building the future of the command line — github.com
Klint Finley wrote a really wonderful piece about the future of the command line. While there are many situations I prefer using GUI over CLI I can't imagine not having a command line opened somewhere in the background.
PocketBase - Open Source backend in 1 file — pocketbase.io
PocketBase is great nothing else than an SQLite database together with a great-looking admin panel, file hosting, and a REST API. I see so many ways to use it. Can't wait to test it as a simple CMS for Jamstack frameworks.
#whiteboardtheweb — www.wtw.dev
Ben Holmes created a page with all of his White Board web lessons. If you only have a minute and want to learn something - watch one of them.
Nate Moore published a beta version of Token CSS. It's a tool that helps us integrate Design Tokens to our development flow. It looks like Tailwind but used inside of CSS file (not class names).
Laravel Bootcamp — bootcamp.laravel.com
A really nice introduction to Laravel. A practical case of creating a Twitter clone using Inertia. A really great way to get you started.
Me speaking:
Be Lazy - Automate — www.twitch.tv
I had the pleasure to talk with Jenn Junod about CI/CD. It was really magical.
WordPress Accessibility Day 2022 — wpaccessibility.day
I will talk about automating A11y tests as a part of the CI/CD pipeline.
WordUp Trójmiasto Meetup — wp.trojmiasto.us
If you want to meet me in person, WordUp Trójmiasto is a great place to do so. I will be talking about WordPress and Astro.
And how was your week? Did you learn something interesting? Don’t hesitate to press the reply button and share your thoughts.
