What happened last week
First of all, sorry for being a day late, but a lot was happening and I decided it was better to wait one day, rather than overstress because I would have too much on my plate.
That said - last week I sent some Call For Papers proposals to different conferences. I prepared 4 topics:
Give WordPress a try - it’s not as bad as you think
Is Astro the ultimate front-end framework?
Is the headless architecture the future for CMSs?
Picking the right CMS for the job
The first one was already accepted by IPC Berlin, so I hope that others will also get accepted somewhere 🤞
This week I also published the first article about Statamic for WordPress developers. I hope it will get some traction and more users will give Statamic a try.
And to make things even more interesting, I joined the WordCamp Gliwice organizing team. I will be responsible for sponsors and speakers.
Luckily we got this amazing coffee from our best friends, that I hope will keep me awake at night to fulfill all of this.

Statamic for WordPress developers - intro — Maciek Palmowski
During Christmas, I got this idea about writing an intro course about Statamic, but for WordPress users. There are a lot of similarities and I think every WP developer should at least give it a try.
How WordPress uses Authentication Cookies & Sessions: A technical Deep-Dive — Calvin Alkan
Calvin wrote an amazing piece about WordPress cookies and sessions. Why? To counter some content that is available over the internet. As you see, based on this article, he explains why and when this can be a security threat. Great read. I mean, I have used WordPress for years, but I learned a lot.
Is htmx Just Another JavaScript Framework? — Alexander Petros
A very philosophical article about whether is HTMX a JS framework or not. It’s a nice read if you’re interested in those debates. If not? Just use it without carrying too much about it. Whether it’s a framework or not it’s still cool.
Visual design rules you can safely follow every time — Anthony Hobday
Anthony collected a lot of rules in his article, that will help in the design process. It’s worth going through the article and seeing if you’re using them.
Kind of annoyed at React — Cassidy Williams
I’m not following what is happening in React too much, but I see there’s a bit of chaos there. According to Cassidy, React got more complicated, there wasn’t been an official release since June 2022, and their communication is poor.
Just by reading this, I feel that’s the opposite of VueJS.
Fall in love with WordPress (again) with Flynt
I missed this WordPress starter theme earlier, but it looks amazing. Apart from using Timber and being dev-focused, it has this truly amazing feature of loading components when needed (for example load:on="visible"). Like Astro, but in WordPress.
The Worst Kind of Programmer — Alexander Mikhailian
Alexander tells his story about the worst kind of developers, who overengineer everything, don’t care about their teams, and leave chaos after themselves. But hey, they used the bleeding-edge technologies, that only they understood.
Worth reading and rethinking if you’re not one of them.
Breaking "DRM" in Polish trains — Redford, q3k, MrTick
It’s a long watch, but it’s totally worth it. Hacking, conspiracy, law suites, and… trains. It’s an ultimate combo. And this is happening right now in Poland.
And how was your week? Did you learn something interesting? Don’t hesitate to press the reply button or share your thoughts in the comment section.
