What happened last week
I’m back in Benalmadena (Spain). Just like last year, we decided to spend some time here. This year we are here just for a bit around two weeks (which is too short), but it’s still amazing and I’m enjoying every day here.
But my traveling isn’t the only thing that happened - our CMS Squad on the daily.dev is doing amazing too. It became public, it has around 37 people and some discussions are already happening there.
Also, inspired by the Patchstack Discord Community, I found a bit of time to create an article about how to start blogging for developers. You’ll find the link below.

Dropping support for PHP 7.0 and 7.1 — John Blackbourn
This is amazing news - WP is finally dropping support for PHP 7.0 (end-of-life January 2018) and 7.1 (end-of-life December 2018) in the upcoming release. This is a very important move. The next one is related to education and doing whatever is possible to make users switch to 8.0+.
Woo.com migrating back to WooCommerce.com — Kevin Bates
In October WooCommerce moved to a shorter and more sexy domain - Woo.com. Sadly, it turned out it wasn’t a good move and it caused traffic to drop, so they decided to go back to the old one.
Overall it’s interesting - TransferWise was able to switch to Wise.com. I wonder, what didn’t click here.
Prettier: The World's Most Stubborn Code Formatter — Przemek Hernik
Przemek continues his journey into code formatters. Now it’s time for Prettier. Some love it for being opinionated, and some hate it for that. Przemek is somewhere in between, but he doesn’t like the lack of flexibility.
Runway: Manage your Eloquent models in Statamic — Duncan McClean
You are absolutely wrong if you think connecting Statamic to a database is difficult. This add-on will enable you to do so in a matter of minutes. I’m not kidding, it took me around 13-14 minutes to set up everything.
We Do Not Need Senior Developers, We Need Senior Codebases — Tomas Votruba
A great article by Tomas about the importance of good code over having a bunch of senior developers: he shares some universal tips about this. Like I said - great reading stuff.

James prepared a great intro for Astro DB - so, if you aren’t still sure how to start, this video will be perfect for you.
